Because the building had recently been sold and it stood close to neighbouring buildings it survived the infamous "Reichskristallnacht" on 9. Nov. 1938.

The village children did their target practice on the chandeliers but otherwise serious damage was not done.

The ceremonial artifacts such as the Torah scrolls etc. were probably taken away by the SA and/or SS to be destroyed in Kassel.
