Tuesday 13 January 2026, 7pm, Cinema on Tuesdays, Escape from East Prussia

A five-part documentary film by director Guido Knopp from 2001
The Förderkreis Synagoge Vöhl (Friends of the Vöhl Synagogue) is showing this film as part of its “Tuesday Cinema” series. This is the first of two DVDs (running time 155 minutes). The second DVD will be shown on May 19, 2025. For licensing reasons, the title may not be used for advertising purposes.
January 1945, 81 years ago, a large wave of refugees began to flee East Prussia, marking the beginning of flight and expulsion from the East. Flight, expulsion, emigration: this is also something that the Jews of Vöhler experienced a few years earlier. Having to leave your homeland is terrible. Based on the diary of one of those affected and with the help of a documentary film by ZDF and the Federation of Expellees, we will look back on those terrible weeks.
Admission is free, donations are welcome.
