This program, whose title is also the title of a poem by Jewish poet Ivan Goll, connects worlds: Waits' empathy for the underdogs, Brel's vision of Jesus, Theodorakis' melodic urgency, Kaleko's insomnia, Eisler's sadness, Gundermann's fatigue, the visionary gaze of Russian anti-war activist Grebenshtshikov, Paul Hoorn's settings of existential texts—songs full of despair and hope. And—Christmas? Advent as the arrival of what?
The topic is something we are increasingly suffering from: isolation, polarization, depression—and something we need more and more urgently: connection, resonance, confidence.
