On February 4, 2026, Heinrich Figge from Höringhausen died at the age of 89. He was closely associated with our support group and was a dedicated researcher of Jewish life in his hometown. He contributed to several joint publications. He made his documents on Jewish life in Höringhausen available to us.
When we purchased the synagogue in 1999 and restored it in the following years, he agreed to craft a wrought-iron candlestick based on a design by Jewish architect Thea Altaras. He presented it to us as a gift. The chandelier will always remind us of this generous and wonderful man.
