Monday, 9 November 2026, 7.30pm, Commemoration of the pogrom night

Protestant Martin´s-church and Synagogue
The prayer for peace will take place in St Martin's Church from 7.30 pm.
The subsequent memorial service will take place at 8pm in the former synagogue. The names of the victims are mentioned and a candle is lit for each one.
A joint event of Ev.-luth. Kirchengemeinde Vöhl and of Förderkreises Synagoge in Vöhl.

nyone who walks through Vöhl with their eyes open will still find traces of Jewish life. Names like those of Abraham Katzenstein and Selig Frankenthal have been carved into the door of an old blacksmith's shop alongside those of Christian farmers; there's the inscription in Hebrew characters above the door of a house that belonged to the Schaumburg merchant family in the 19th century; and, of course, there's the Jewish cemetery in Herzingsgrube and the former synagogue.
